the coin glistens in the downpours. the pavement simmers with our footfalls. the merchants of flesh constantly negotiating for a better bargain.

our pockets empty as we consent  the corners. searching for all the missing doors.

the friction toils. determined to prove us wrong.

gravity closes the window. as we abandon our wings.

the length of the tether is what's most beguiling. how can we wander so far and still remain confined to these prisons.

our lives unfold in a series of tender deceptions and furious euphorias.

fear is loud. but power speaks softly.

eventually we peel away all that extra skin. only to discover there's nothing beneath it.
